Introduction to Classifications of Essential Oils based on a Chinese Medicine Perspective. Learn to effectively and safely apply Essential Oils on Acupuncture or Acupressure points. In this class, students will have the ability to distinguish between Top Notes (Wei Level- Superficial), Middle Notes (Ying Level – Blood and Emotions), Base Notes (Yuan Source – DNA/Soul)
In this 3-hr PDA class we will focus on the benefits of Top Notes, those oils that are associated with the most superficial level of our consciousness and the upper and outer aspect of our body. These oils work very quickly, most often to uplift the individual or create an uplifting mood in the environment. Additionally, because of the inviting scent they are usually the first oil to be noticed within a blend. Essential oils can greatly effect the state of Ying Qi (Digestion, Blood, Qi and Emotions). During this 3-hr PDA class, we will discuss 9 common essential oils that are associated with Post- Natal Qi and Blood. The essential oils that will be discussed are,, Rosemary, Pine, Ravensara, Lemongrass, Fennel, Neroli, Roman Chamomile, German Chamomile and Melissa.
In this class we will focus on the application of Chinese Medicine and Essential Oils that work with our Yuan QI (Essence/DNA). These base notes are the most mysterious, precious and longest lasting of Essential Oils. Commonly derived from woods, roots and resins they address chronic ailments that are addressed with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Common TCM functions include, Calming the Shen, Nourishing Yin, Nourishing Blood, and Descending Yang Rising. Examples of Essential Oils that will be discussed include, Rose, Jasmine, Myrrh, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Spikenard and more.
